Does Redfin Buy Homes in Florida? The Real Answer

No. Redfin closed RedfinNow, its own home-buying arm, on November 9, 2022, and has never reopened it. Redfin sells houses today as a discount brokerage: it lists your house and hands you to one of its own agents, it does not make you a direct purchase offer itself. In select markets its site will route you toward Opendoor for that instead, a different company's offer. Cash Flow Deals is the real direct buyer: one written cash number, locked before repairs get scoped.
| Cash Flow Deals | Redfin (Listing Only) | |
|---|---|---|
| Who buys the house | Cash Flow Deals, directly | A third-party buyer Redfin's site finds you, or Opendoor in select markets |
| Timeline to a written offer | Often same day | No offer until a buyer is found; RedfinNow, Redfin's own direct-purchase option, closed in 2022 |
| Repairs before closing | None required. Price locked before repairs are scoped. | Often requested by the buyer after inspection, or required by their lender |
| Fees | Flat fee, no listing commission | 1% listing fee only if you also buy through Redfin within 365 days; higher otherwise, plus the buyer's agent's commission |
What Redfin Actually Sells You Today
So if Redfin isn't writing the check, who actually is? Redfin's current business answers that on its own pricing page: you list your house on Redfin's site, a Redfin agent represents you through the sale, and the actual buyer is whoever makes an offer on the open market, a person or company Redfin does not control. Redfin advertises a 1% listing fee, but only if you also buy your next home through Redfin within 365 days of closing on the listing. Sell without buying through them and the fee runs higher, with part of it credited back if you buy through Redfin later. Either way, that fee is Redfin's commission for representing you in a sale to someone else. You are not selling to Redfin in that transaction, no matter which fee tier applies.
RedfinNow: The One Time Redfin Tried Buying Directly
Redfin did try being the direct buyer once. RedfinNow, launched in 2017, purchased houses directly from sellers, the same model Opendoor still runs, then resold them. On November 9, 2022, Redfin's own CEO told the company in writing, 'We're laying off 862 brilliant, loyal people and also closing RedfinNow.' In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission the same day, Redfin called the shutdown 'a strategic decision we made in order to focus our resources on our core businesses in the face of the rising cost of capital,' and projected the division would lose $22 million to $26 million in 2022 alone. If you're wondering whether that program quietly came back, it didn't: Redfin has not reopened RedfinNow or announced a new direct-purchase program in the years since, including as of today.
Two Ways Redfin's Site Still Points You to a Direct Buyer, Neither One Redfin
Two things near Redfin's name can still put a direct buyer in front of you, and neither one is Redfin itself. First: since a 2019 partnership, sellers in select markets can ask Opendoor, through a button on Redfin's own site and app, to make a direct purchase offer alongside Redfin's listing estimate. If Opendoor responds, the money and the contract are Opendoor's, routed through Redfin's platform, not issued by Redfin. Second: as of July 1, 2025, Redfin itself became a wholly owned subsidiary of Rocket Companies, the parent of Rocket Mortgage, in an all-stock deal worth roughly $1.8 billion. That changed who owns Redfin's stock. It did not change what Redfin does for you as a seller: a listing and an agent, not a direct offer from Redfin. As recently as May 19, 2026, Rocket and Redfin rolled out a joint homebuyer savings program worth up to $20,000, built from Rocket Mortgage lender credits and a Redfin commission discount for using a Redfin agent and Rocket financing together. That is a discount on a traditional, agent-assisted purchase, not a new version of RedfinNow.
How Cash Flow Deals Actually Buys a Florida House
A Florida seller asking whether Redfin buys homes really wants one thing: someone who will put a number in writing and close. Cash Flow Deals is built to answer exactly that.
Cash Flow Deals is a Florida real estate investor that locks in a net price for a seller's house before repairs are scoped, using a novation-based, flat-fee process arranged through its licensed FL brokerage partner, Silver Door Realty - not a traditional listing, and not a brokerage itself.
Think of it like a relay handoff, not a resale: the closing paperwork passes to Silver Door Realty's team while the net number you agreed to stays exactly what it was on day one, with no buyer's agent, no open-market listing, and no second company like Opendoor standing between you and the number.
Cash Flow Deals Offer Process:
1. Cash Flow Deals reviews your house directly and sends back a written net-price offer, typically within 24 hours. No listing, no agent search, and no third-party website required to get there.
2. You compare that number against what listing through Redfin, waiting on an open-market buyer, and paying a commission would actually leave you with.
3. If you accept, the file moves into the novation process with Silver Door Realty, and Cash Flow Deals is the buyer of record, not a company routed to you through someone else's website.
The one exception: if something structural surfaces that was not visible or disclosed before we signed - foundation issues, hidden moisture, old wiring, cast-iron drain failure - we re-cost it and bring the number back to you. You decide. You can walk away. We disclose what we know at offer time so this almost never happens.
Common questions
Does Redfin buy houses directly?
No. Redfin closed its direct home-buying program, RedfinNow, on November 9, 2022, citing the rising cost of capital and a projected loss of $22 million to $26 million for the year. It has not restarted a direct-purchase program since. Redfin's business today is listing your house and matching you with one of its own agents, not buying it. Cash Flow Deals is a direct buyer in Florida: the number comes from us, in writing, before repairs are scoped.
What happened to RedfinNow?
RedfinNow was Redfin's direct home-buying arm, launched in 2017, that purchased houses the way Opendoor still does, then resold them. Redfin's CEO announced its closure to staff on November 9, 2022, alongside a 13% workforce layoff, calling it a strategic decision to focus resources on Redfin's core listing business as the cost of capital rose.
Can Redfin still connect me with a direct buyer?
In select markets, yes, through Opendoor, not Redfin itself. Since a 2019 partnership, Redfin's site lets you request that Opendoor make a purchase offer alongside Redfin's own listing estimate. If Opendoor responds, Opendoor is the buyer and Opendoor's contract governs the sale. Cash Flow Deals skips the routing entirely: Florida sellers work with us directly, not a company surfaced through someone else's website.
Who owns Redfin now?
Rocket Companies, the parent of Rocket Mortgage, completed its acquisition of Redfin on July 1, 2025, in an all-stock deal. Redfin now operates as a wholly owned subsidiary. The ownership changed; whether Redfin buys your house directly did not. It still doesn't.

What this means for your options
Every path to selling a house has real tradeoffs. Cash Flow Deals is built for the middle: faster than a traditional listing, more money than a cash investor.
Wait and see
Keep the property as-is and hope conditions improve. The mortgage, insurance, and upkeep keep costing money while you wait, with no set date for things to turn around.
List with a traditional agent
Standard MLS listing, typically 5-6% in commission, and a financed buyer whose deal depends on appraisal, inspection, and lender approval — any of which can fall through after weeks on market.
Sell to Cash Flow Deals
No repairs, no showings, no financing contingency on your side — our novation structure connects you with a bank-financed buyer at a price locked at signing. Usually within one business day.
