Here’s a story about how one of our business partners started his investment business:

Even though I buy over 100 houses a year as a real estate investor, I started out as an agent.

I actually became a real estate investor by accident.

See, I was a top producing agent and I had no plans to ever invest in real estate until I bumped into a killer investment deal.

I was on a traditional listing appointment with a client on a 2 family in the Boston area.

I met with the seller and pitched her on listing the property with me.

After giving my best listing presentation, she just kept saying the same thing “I really don’t want to list this house with an agent.

I want to sell to an investor with no hassle.”

She even gave me the number that she was looking for and told me to try and find someone who could pay that.

I left the appointment in shock, after all, I had just told her that she could get much more money if she were to list the property.

On my way home, I was thinking about which of the real estate investors that I work with was going to get this lucky call from me – because it was truly a great deal.

Then it hit me. I thought “Why am I the one doing all of the hard work here, generating the lead, building rapport with the seller, only to make a fraction of what my investor was going to make”.

It was at that point that I decided that I was going to be the real estate investor and ended up buying the house.

Without going into the nitty gritty on this one, I did VERY well on this deal. So well, that I decided to go after deals like this on purpose.

Here’s the thing: you can make a good living as a real estate agent.
